Falling in Love With Owls.

Well, it seems that I have entered into a love affair with owls. And not necessarily “real” owls … but rather, all the hand crafted owls that grace the many crafty blogs I read … as well as all the crazy-cute owls for sale throughout Etsy. It seems that I am entering into this love affair much later than so many others in the crafty-blog world. In fact, owls may even be “so yesterday” for all I know. But such is my life – and I am okay with that. I mean, I wasn’t even aware that the Red Sox won the 2007 World Series until a couple weeks later. Heck, I didn’t even know they were in the play-offs, and I am a NewEnglander (not to mention the wife of major Sox fan)! I just seem to come to popular culture a little later than others. I am going to say it is because my brilliant mind is always cranking away at some new thoughts, projects, deeds, etc… and not because I am aloof in any way. So there.

Anyway, I love owls now. And so, when I was shopping at Goodwill this weekend, and found this vintage upholstery material for only .99 …

… it won’t surprise you to learn that I thought about owls. And after seeing so many wonderful ~ yet often pricey ~ owls on Etsy … here, here and here … I thought I’d try my hand at making one:

Now, certainly he is not the most polished owl you have ever seen. Heck, I didn’t have a clue how to make one, so he is my experimental prototype. But for a first owl, I think he is grand 🙂 And, I think he is going to have lots of company real soon!

Now for a name.

Love,

Jodi
